Description
Forged in 1441 by Master Kanenobu of Mino Province during the Muromachi period, this sword exemplifies early high-craftsmanship from a celebrated lineage. The kaerikata (belt hook) is an exceptional feature—traditionally made from water buffalo horn, this one showcases a rare level of ornate detail. The fittings include Shibuichi, a silver-copper alloy known for evoking the soft hue of a hazy spring moon (oborozuki). While popular in later centuries, Shibuichi is almost never seen on 15th-century swords, making this a truly rare historical artifact.
